Not gone entirely - on sunny Friday afternoons and Sundays, they run to the upper slopes to tool around on the challenging upper slopes, but to my ear, living right beside Barrm Birrm, they aren't playing on the lower slopes.

What made the difference we will never know. Our signs are still there, giving the kangaroos and echidna a voice, and we did put the word out into the networks of the community, to ask whoever knew these riders to tell them 'Back off, you're damaging a beautiful place'.

But for now, the lower slopes are mostly silent. The torn ground is recovering, slowly. If the humans back off, the bush will heal itself.
