NatureShare is a project conceived, designed and implemented by Reilly Beacom and Russell Best (both members of Riddells Creek Landcare). The project was funded by Riddells Creek Landcare, APS Keilor Plains and DSE's Vision for Werribee Plains project, with the addition of an extraordinary amount of volunteer/in-kind support from people and groups in Riddells Creek, the Macedon Range and across the Keilor-Werribee plains. NatureShare is a free, web-based tool for individuals, groups and communities to upload sightings, photos & species information, and everyone shares the knowledge. NatureShare currently includes in its database all the plants and major animals groups known to occur in Victoria (currently over 8,500 species names) with about 10,000 more to be added shortly (including insects, fish and much more). The initial focus of NatureShare will be on the Keilor-Werribee Plains (west of Melbourne), Riddells Creek and the Macedon Range thanks to funding and in-kind support from people and groups in these areas. On its launch, flora and fauna information for the Keilor-Werribee Plains, Riddells Creek and the Macedon Range will be reasonably well developed and the project will also be opened up for projects throughout Victoria, and soon Australia-wide. ...
