Growing Sustainable Gardens

The first Growing Sustainable Gardens Day was held on November 12th 2005, organised jointly by Clarkefield and District Farm Landcare Group, Greening of Riddell and Riddells Creek Landcare.

It was a great success with a good attendance, lots of useful information available to attendees, a table with examples of many local weeds (hand picked locally that morning) and people brought along weeds for identification - and I think we managed to name all but two!

Then Greening of Riddell was successful in obtaining a grant on behalf of the three organising groups to develop a substantial weeds brochure focusing on garden escapees and possible alternative plants to replace them with.

Developed my members of our own community, the 48 page, full colour GROWING SUSTAINABLE GARDENS BROCHURE

Eutaxia obovata is a beautiful garden alternative for broom.
