Only 37 moths are pictured here so far. Click here for a list of Riddells Creek moths indentified by
Peter Marriott. We have photos of most of these (and more) but it will take some time to get them all
processed and up on the web.

There are 20,000 moths in Australia - compared with 380 butterflies! Moths and butterflies are
insects that make up the Order Lepidoptera. They are distinguishable by their scaled wings.

First Aid for Caterpillar/Moth stings - NB. A number of Australian species of moths and caterpillars
possess venomous hairs. Do not handle hairy Caterpillars and Moths.

We'd like to acknowledge Peter Marriott and Wendy Moore for their help in
identification of the moths.

If you've seen a moth in Riddells Creek that isn't on this list please let us know ...
... we'd love to add it to our list.
